Cyber Attack
Abstract
Australia has been subjected to a cyber attack. Dreadful as that is, do not all the major powers subscribe to it in relation to their competitors, and even their allies?
Article
Cybe attacks have been made on Australian policical parties' cyber networks, such as they may be having regard to the quality of Australian politics.
This is dreadful and inexcusable, particularly if some of the culprits are our own allies. However, it may not be the full story.
If it isimplied that "our side"does not do it to the "other side" too, that does not necessarily follow and indeed would be surprising. Having regard to the resources available to "our side's" intelligence bodies, it must be asked if they would be doing their job if they were not doing it to the "other side".
If they are, our outrage may be somewhat lacking in credibility.
While it is seen by "both sides" as a matter of "national security", it will probably be difficult to prevent such conduct, but at least we may temper the mock outrage the opportunity for which is provided by 'discovery' of what is to be expected.
Justified outrge is more righteous if it is done to us by our"own side" and used against a particular party. It has happened in other ways before.
