1954 Admitted as a barrister of the Supreme Court of Queensland

1954-1966: Practicing in Rockhampton

1966 onwards: Practicing in Brisbane

14 March 1974: Took Silk

1978-81: Vice President of the Bar Association of Queensland.

1982: Appointed a judge of the Supreme Court of Queensland.

About Des (Personal)
Des married Patricia (Trish) Rosemary Barker on 30 April 1955. They had three daughters - Patrice, Anne-Marie and Margot - and two sons Paul and Roger. A keen artist and poet, Des is an active member of the Indooroopilly Mens Shed.
